When converting transparent RGBA images to formats lacking alpha (JPG, BMP, PDF), transparent pixels are cleanly composited over a solid white background ((255, 255, 255)) to prevent black halos.

Multi-Frame Animation

Animated GIF inputs preserve all frame sequences when converted to animation-capable containers (WebP, GIF, TIFF). Static exports cleanly render the primary keyframe.

EXIF Transpose Normalization

Applies ImageOps.exif_transpose prior to encoding, permanently orienting physical pixel coordinates so mobile photos render upright across all target software.

ScanPDF performs genuine image transcoding. Our backend fully decodes the incoming image stream into raw pixel matrices and re-encodes it using native container encoders (such as libjpeg, libpng, or libwebp) with validated header structures and compression tables.

What happens to transparent backgrounds when converting PNG to JPG?

The JPEG specification does not support alpha transparency channels. When converting a transparent PNG or WebP to JPG, ScanPDF composites the transparent pixels over a clean white background before saving, preventing ugly black halos or inverted color blocks.

Can animated GIFs be converted to other formats without losing movement?
